West Michigan PMP Prep Course Instructor Information

PMP Instructor Role

  • You will receive pre-developed course materials which include: PowerPoint presentations, instructor notes, test questions and answers, and other supporting documents.
  • You are expected to use these materials to instruct your class. Class materials may not be altered, but you may supplement the material provided with additional supporting material, and/or exercises.
  • You will be part of a team of 3 to 4 instructors that is responsible for teaching an entire 15 week course. Information sharing between instructors via email or telephone is encouraged and expected to keep apprised of questions/issues that are raised by students during the course.
  • Arranging substitute instruction for schedule conflicts that prevent you from teaching will be coordinated within the team of instructors as a first resort. When exchanging teaching assignments is not possible, the VP of Education will assist you in securing emergency substitute instruction.

Instructor Benefits/Compensation Information

  • Compensation - The PMP Instructor role is a paid position. Instructors are compensated $100.00 for every education session they teach. Compensation is paid at the end of each fifteen week course. Teaching time can be volunteered and donated back to the chapter at the preference of the instructor.
  • Professional Development Units - You will earn 5 Professional Development Units (PDU's) for teaching a fifteen week course.

Emergency Substitute Instruction

Highly skilled instructors willing to deliver PMI sessions on short notice will receive 1.5 times pay. Check emergency sub box on application if you would like to be considered for this role.

Cancellation Policy

Instructors are expected to make a solid commitment to deliver three to four contracted sessions. All emergency cancellations must be explained in writing to the VP of Education and will be a consideration in awarding future contracts. In the event of emergency cancellation, the instructor will only receive compensation for the sessions they actually taught.

At will employment disclosure

The West Michigan Chapter of the PMI practices an Employment At-Will Doctrine, which means that employment is presumed to be voluntary and indefinite for both employees and employers. As an at-will employee under the doctrine, you may quit your instructor position whenever and for whatever reason you want, usually without consequence. In turn, as an at-will employer, we may terminate you whenever we wish and for whatever reason we deem reasonable, without consequence.
