Why should you volunteer? Volunteering provides you with many wonderful opportunities. Among them are the opportunities for leadership, teaching, learning, earning PDUs, making and honoring commitments, networking, receiving recognition, having fun and/or making new friends.
Opportunities:
Development Project : On-Line Education Course Registration System
Description: This special project involves developing an application/portal/portlet to provide for online course scheduling and registration system for the WMPMI Education Operations
At a high level, this application would allow for -
- On-Line registration for courses
- Payment via Paypal when signed up
- Creating a schedule for each course
- Assigning Instructors to each day of the schedule
- Printing Certificates when course is completed

Needed Skills: Must have knowledge/experience with PHP. Helpful to have experience with MySQL.

Mentor Program Development Committee
Description: 4 to 6 Volunteers are needed to participate in a committee to develop the specific deliverables needed to launch a mentoring program through the chapter.
Duties would include development and review of program materials for mentors as well as mentees; implementation of marketing and publicity of the program; launch of a pilot program and monitoring of the program for feedback and improvement.
Time Commitment: 1 – 5 hours per week from September until December of 2008

Mentor Program Coordinator
Description: Description of Duties: Coordination of the mentoring program for the Western Michigan chapter. Facilitate recruitment of interested members for mentoring as well as mentors. Facilitate matching of mentors and mentees and initiation of the communication. Monitor and maintain the program soliciting feedback and incorporating suggestions for improvement.
Time Commitment: 1 – 5 hours per week ongoing beginning November 2008

VP Programs
Description: Plan, schedule, arrange and supervise all Chapter Program activities including:
- Program schedule of events (Program Matrix)
- Facilities Coordination
- Special Events (Professional Development Days)
Responsibilities:
- Gather Board Input
- Recommend to the Board Program year themes
- Forecast Program functional area’s
- Fill and keep filled Program Director Roles
- Assist with membership surveys
- Collaborate with other chapters regarding programs
- Follow systematic process that ensure program content and quality
- Maintain Program Matrix
- Maintain a Speaker cancellation backup plan
- Fill gaps in Board’s desired topics with appropriate presentations/speakers.
- Provide Marketing information (Call for Presentations form) to Marketing two
months prior to presentation
- Complete Call for Presentation Form on all potential speakers
- Monthly, provide Newsletter Director article for On Target
- Provide Website director with program information at least two months in advance.
- Take the Lead for the venue location and facilities (Selection recommendation,
contract, etc.)
- Take the Lead on Special Operations (Professional Development Days, etc.)
